Our Story: How a €1,200 Mistake Became Our Mission

It all started with that sinking feeling. The moment you reach into your bag and feel… dampness. For our founder, Linda (24), that moment came when she pulled out her completely soaked laptop. A flicker on the screen, and then—nothing. The repair bill was a bitter pill to swallow: €1,200. All because a bottle, promised to be "leak-proof," had failed.

She knew she couldn't be the only one. This wasn't just a faulty product; it was broken trust.

But frustration is often the birthplace of the best ideas. Linda (24), the visionary of our team and now finishing her bachelor's in business, shared her expensive story with us, her friends and co-founders, Paul and Öykü. The spark was immediate. We realized this everyday problem needed a real solution—not just another bottle, but a universal shield.

Öykü (24), with her incredible eye for aesthetics honed by studying both business and film, instantly saw the bigger picture. A solution couldn't just be functional; it had to be stylish. It needed a personality, a story. She became the soul of our brand, ensuring that every color and curve of CupGuard would be something you’d be proud to carry.

Paul (24), taking a gap year between his bachelor's and master's, brought the analytical energy we needed to get off the ground. Passionate about new, cool ideas, he dove headfirst into the numbers and technology. As our finance and tech lead, he’s the one who turns our vision into a viable reality, asking the crucial question: "How do we build this right?"

And so, CupGuard was born. Not in a sterile boardroom, but during late-night brainstorming sessions in our Berlin apartments. Fueled by coffee and a shared drive, we went from sketches on napkins to testing countless materials until we found the perfect premium silicone. We were obsessed with creating something that didn’t just work, but felt great and was built to last.
